AT THE TIP

  • Vanderbilt men’s basketball hits the road for the first time this season as the Dores head to the Charleston Classic for three games. The Commodores open the eight-team event against Nevada on Thursday in a 7:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. CT tip.
  • Thursday’s game against the Wolf Pack will air on ESPNU with Jay Alter and Chris Spatola on the call. Fans can also catch the game on 102.5 The Game with Kevin Ingram and Tim Thompson. 

LAST TIME OUT

  • Vanderbilt improved to 4-0 for the first time since 2018-19 with a 94-81 win over Jackson State. Five Dores scored in double figures, led by Jason Edwards with 16.
  • Vanderbilt found it’s range from deep, hitting 16 three-pointers in the win. Tyler Nickel led the shooting performance with a 4-for-8 night from three-point range.

FRESH TO IMPRESS

  • Tyler Tanner leads all freshmen nationally with 12 steals through four games.
  • The Brentwood native has snagged multiple steals in every game.
  • Tanner electrified Memorial Gymnasium against Cal, going for 14 points and adding three steals off the bench.
  • The rookie dropped nine points and added three steals in his collegiate debut.
  • Tanner is the first Vanderbilt freshman to notch three steals in his debut since legendary defender Atiba Prater did so in 1996-97.

MC-BLOCK-TON

  • Devin McGlockton has flashed early in the season for his offensive and rebounding prowess, however, he’s quietly among the nation’s leader’s in blocks as well.
  • McGlockton has 12 rejections on the season already, ranking 11th nationally and second in the SEC. He is 11th nationally in blocks per game and second in the league.
  • The junior has multiple blocks in all four games this season.

HEATING UP FROM DEEP

  • After a slow start to the season from 3-point range, the Commodores hit 16 threes on Saturday against Jackson State while shooting 42.1 percent from deep.
  • The 16 triples mark the most for the Dores since 2022 and just the ninth time knocking down 16 or more since 1996-97.
  • Five Dores hit multiple threes, led by Nickel who went 4-of-8 from deep. Tyler Tanner and AJ Hoggard each hit three apiece.

4-0 START

  • Vanderbilt’s 4-0 start marks the first time since 2018-19 the Dores have started the season with four wins.
  • A win on Thursday night would be the first 5-0 start since 2015-16.

SERIES HISTORY

  • For a third consecutive game, Vanderbilt will face a first-time foe when the Dores meet Nevada on Thursday night.
  • The Commodores are also facing Wolf Pack head coach Steve Alford for the first time.
