Vanderbilt rising sophomore Cindy Ha was knocked out of the U.S. Women’s Amateur on Thursday after dropping a 4 and 3 decision to Mika Liu in the Round of 16 at the Portland Golf Club in Portland, Ore.

Liu pulled away from Ha on the 9th, 10th, and 11th holes, which she claimed with two birdies and a par, to go 4-up with seven holes to play and come away with the 4 and 3 victory. Liu held on from there and went on to the 4 and 3 win.

Ha had a flair for the dramatic in her Round of 32 match against Elizabeth Tong to come away with a 2-up win earlier in the day in Portland. Ha trailed by three holes after 10, but won five of the last eight holes to win the match. The Demarest, N.J., resident also rallied in her initial match on Wednesday, winning her match against Aneka Seumanutafa after trailing by two holes with five to play.
