Carla Thomas Chosen To Preseason All-SEC First Team 10-27-04

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Vanderbilt sophomore Carla Thomas has been named a preseason All-Southeastern Conference first-team selection in a vote of the league’s coaches announced Wednesday.

The Mechanicsburg, Pa., native averaged 10.0 points and 5.1 rebounds as a freshman during the 2003-04 campaign. Thomas was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2004 SEC Tournament, leading the Commodores to their fourth tournament title.

This season marks the conference’s first annual women’s basketball preseason All-SEC teams. Georgia and Tennessee led all schools with three selections each.

The preseason All-SEC first and second teams consist of a minimum of eight players on each squad, voted on by the SEC Head Women’s Basketball Coaches. No ties were broken and no predicted order of finish was made.
