Vanderbilt head basketball coach Kevin Stallings announced that former Commodore standout and current basketball staff member Dan Cage has been elevated to the Director of Basketball Operations for the men’s basketball program. Cage served as the Assistant Director of Operations for the last two seasons.
“Dan has worked very hard for us this past season and I felt that he deserved this promotion to our Director of Basketball Operations position,” said Stallings. “He is a graduate of this program and university, and connects very well with our players, both past and present, and to our staff. I have confidence that he will do an outstanding job with his expanded duties that go along with this new position.”
Cage is no stranger to the Commodore program, however. He earned four letters from 2003-07 and helped lead VU to two Sweet 16 appearances in 2004 and 2007. Cage played in 125 games in his four-year career, started 32, and in his senior season averaged 11.2 ppg.
Cage played in Europe for four seasons after graduating with an undergraduate degree in economics in May of 2007. He played in Germany (TBB-Trier) in 2007-08, France (JSF Nanterre) and Spain (Caceres) in 2008-09 and 2009-10 (CB Canarias).
“I feel honored to be named Director of Basketball Operations for Vanderbilt Men’s Basketball,” said Cage. “I have a great love for the people here, this program, and most importantly, this university. I am humbled by the opportunity to learn from, and work with, such an incredible staff and I sincerely hope that my service to this group is able to help continue our wonderful tradition of success here at Vanderbilt.”
