Byington Tabbed Finalist for Skip Prosser Man of the Year

Award recognizes on court success, moral integrity

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Mark H. Carter and Family Men’s Basketball Head Coach Mark Byington has been named finalist for the Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award, CollegeInsider.com announced Thursday.

The Skip Prosser Man of the Year award honors those who not only achieve success on the basketball court but who display moral integrity on and off it as well. The recipient of the annual award is determined by a 10-member voting committee, which consists of current and former head coaches, as well as two senior staff members of collegeinsider.com.

In his first year at Vanderbilt, Byington has led the Commodores to their first 20-win regular season since 2011-12. The Dores have knocked off four top 15 teams this season, the most for the program since 1987-88. Byington also has a chance to match Eddie Fogler for the most victories by a first-year Vanderbilt head coach, with Fogler winning 21 games in his 1989-90 debut.

The 2025 award will be announced in San Antonio, Texas, site of the men’s Division I Basketball Championship.
