A number of Vanderbilt teams will be in action this weekend. On Friday, Vanderbilt’s baseball team will begin a three-game homestand against Florida. The first pitch will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, while Saturday’s game starts at 6 p.m. and Sunday’s game will be at noon. All three games will be carried on 560 AM. Friday’s game will air on FSN-Florida and Saturday’s will be on CSS.
There will be a number of outstanding promotions taking place this weekend at Hawkins Field. Fans will be able to view a replica of David Price’s Cy Young Award and pick up a commemorative “Big League Dreams” poster featuring the five former Commodores now in the Major League Baseball at any of the three games. There are also specific promotions for each home game.

Also on Friday, the men’s tennis team will host Georgia at 2 p.m. CT. Admission is free to the Currey Tennis Center to watch the 13th-ranked Commodores host No. 6 Georgia. The women’s tennis team is on the road at Georgia and at Tennessee this weekend. The men’s team will play at Tennessee Sunday.
The track and field team will open the outdoor season with the annual Black & Gold meet Friday and Saturday. Action begins at 4:00 p.m. on Friday with the hammer, shot put, triple jump and men’s pole vault. Friday’s track events begin at 6:00 p.m. with invitational fields in the 1,500 and 3,000 meters.Saturday, action starts at 10:00 a.m. with field events (discus, javelin, high jump, long jump and women’s pole vault). A full slate of track action begins at 11:00 a.m. and culminates with the 4×400 relay scheduled to begin just after 5:00 p.m. More Information
The women’s basketball team will make its 14th straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament at 10:05 a.m. CT Saturday when the Commodores play St. Joseph’s in Storrs, Conn. Vanderbilt is the No. 8 seed in the Bridgeport Region and will play ninth-seeded St. Joseph’s. The winner will play either top-seeded UConn or 16th-seeded Idaho on Monday. More Information
Saturday morning, Vanderbilt’s football team will hold an open practice for fans. The Vanderbilt Stadium gates will open at 9:15 a.m. Saturday with practice beginning at 9:45 a.m.
The event is one of two open scrimmages before the Black & Gold Spring Game on April 13.
Vanderbilt will also hold its annual Pro Day Friday afternoon, where former Commodores will showcase their abilities to professional scouts.
