Vanderbilt sophomores Chris Brady and Luke List have been honored as “Golfer of the Week” by the Southeastern Conference.  The awards were the league’s last for golf’s fall season and refer to both Commodores’ strong finishes to their autumn schedules.

List , a native of Ringgold, Ga., was the SEC’s highest finisher in the Carpet Capital Collegiate, held at The Farm in Rock Face, Ga., Nov. 5-7.  The tournament was originally scheduled for Sept. 16-19 but was postponed due to Hurricane Ivan.  List tied for second overall in the tournament, shooting a two-over-par 218.

Brady, originally from Cary, N.C., shot a seven-under-par 206 and captured medalist honors at The Landfall Tradition, a tournament held at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.

Brady opened the tournament with a three-under-par 69 and followed that up with rounds of 72 and 68.  Brady won the tournament by two shots over Kailin Downs of New Mexico, who carded a 211, five shots under par.

For the season, Brady is fourth in the SEC in stroke average (72.17) and has three top 10 finishes.  She is ranked 13th in the nation in the latest GolfWeek Rankings.

Brady won two events last year.  She tied for medalist honors at the Kentucky Wildcat Invitational and won the Texas Betsy Rawls Longhorn Classic.

The women’s team will return to action February 21 at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational while the men resume their spring schedule February 28 at the Southern Cal Invitational.
