Nov. 4, 2010

Vanderbilt’s fourth-ranked bowling team makes its season tournament debut Friday at the New Jersey Jamboree, hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson. Here are some pertinent details of the weekend.

Tournament format
Friday: Five Quad-Baker games
Saturday: Five Traditional games
Sunday: Three rounds of best four-of-seven Baker

Competing teams
Adelphi, Bethune-Cookman, Delaware State, FDU, Florida A & M, Hampton, Howard, Kutztown, Long Island, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Monmouth, Morgan State, New Jersey City, Sacred Heart, Saint Francis-NY, Saint Francis-PA, Sam Houston State, Vanderbilt

Host Site
Howell Lanes in Howell; this is the same center that hosted last spring’s ECAC Tournament won by Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt Travel Roster
Jessica Earnest, Samantha Hesley, Brittni Hamilton, Kim Carper, Courtney Morgan, Lauren Rhein, Ellen Morrison

Quoting Coach John Williamson
“This will be a good early test for us. We are still trying to figure out our best lineup combinations and we spent a lot of time over the past two weeks on spare conversions. It will also be good to get Samantha Hesley into the lineup after she got the green light from the NCAA earlier this week.”

Travel Challenge
The Commodores arrived at Nashville’s airport Thursday morning expecting a direct flight into New York City that would have them landing about 1:30 p.m. Instead they found out the flight was canceled and they would need to fly through Atlanta, getting into the Big Apple during rush hour. The change of flights meant the team would miss its scheduled practice at the Howell center.
