Nov. 21, 2007

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Brittni Hamilton, widely regarded as one of the best high school bowlers in the United States, has signed a national letter of intent to attend Vanderbilt University. Hamilton, a native of Webster, N.Y., has a deep and impressive competitive resume which includes both academic and athletic success.

Hamilton has the No. 3 ranked Sport Shot in the nation (196), a ranking that includes all bowlers under the age of 21 over the most difficult lane conditions. She was the 2006 Teen Masters Champion with a 280 Sport Shot high game and finished third there in 2007.

In the classroom, Hamilton is a member of the National Honor Society and the Foreign Language Honor Society. She made her school’s high honor roll every grading period since sixth grade.

She was named to the 2007 United States Bowling Congress Dexter High School All-American team and was 18th at the 2007 Team USA Trials against the best adult bowlers in the nation.

“Brittni Hamilton represents the best of the best,” says Coach John Williamson of his No. 1 rated team’s newest addition. “We are just so pleased that she chose Vanderbilt from her many options. She continues our good fortune of attracting some of the nation’s finest student-athletes to our program. She is a very good fit here academically and athletically.”

Hamilton has one 300 game to her credit and owns the Rochester, N.Y. record with an 800 series set earlier this year. She averaged 221 during the 2005-06 high school season, also a record and was her conference Most Valuable Player four times. She also placed soccer and softball before concentrating on her bowling career.

Hamilton registered high finishes at the prestigious Junior Gold Tournament in both 2006 and 2007; is a two-time New York State scratch singles champion and a two-time New York state mixed team titlist.

She has recorded a total of 43, 700-series with a Rochester, N.Y. record 799 coming in 2006.
