Travel squad capsules
Kelsey Abrahamsen: One of two travel squad newcomers on this trip…a freshman from Seattle making her college debut.
Maria Bulanova: Continues to be a difference-maker as one of the NCAA’s best anchor bowlers. Despite her accolades, she can still be under-appreciated because onlookers have such high expectations.
Samantha Gainor: One of two freshmen traveling this week. Has been impressive in her first two collegiate tournaments, bowling in the second and third spots in the lineup and not missing a frame of competition.
Jordan Newham: One of the vets that Vanderbilt is counting upon for leadership and consistency. Has seen extensive action the first two tourneys.
Kristin Quah: Made the all-tournament team in the fall’s first tournament and led Vandy a week ago with a seventh place individual result.
Emily Rigney: Sophomore who has bowled lightly in her first two fall events. After last weekend when she made a comment about her eyesight, an eye exam was quickly arranged and she will be sporting glasses for the first time at this tournament.
Katie Stark: A senior who will be on the travel squad for the first time this fall. Ended her junior season as the Southland tournament MVP and was all-tournament at the NCAA Championship. One of two left-handers on the roster.
Adel Wahner: Has seen a lot of action during during the first two tournaments. Has been used as leadoff, second and third in rotation as Vandy seeks the right alignment.
Last week: The Commodores went 7-6 and finished eighth at Sam Houston’s Kat Klash. Quah was seventh individually. Vandy’s season record is now 16-9.
