Season Opening Tournament: Vanderbilt opens its season at the New Jersey Jamboree, hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson University. The tourney begins Friday at noon (EDT) with five quad Baker games.

Tourney Information: The competition takes place at the Parkway Lanes in Saddle Brook, N.J. There are five quad Baker games Friday, six traditional Team games Saturday with total pin fall setting Sunday’s championship bracket, which will be best four-of-seven Bakers.

Travel team: Nine Commodores will make the trip. Senior Lauren Rhein, juniors Nicole Mosesso and Natalie Goodman, sophomores Robyn Renslow, Amanda Fry, Tori Ferris and freshmen Giselle Poss, Nicole Powell and redshirted freshman Olivia Wirtz.

20 Participating Teams: Adelphi, Arkansas State, Bethune-Cookman, Cheyney, Delaware State, FDU, Long Island, Kutztown, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Monmouth, New Jersey City, Pittsburg-Bradford, Prairie View, Sacred Heart, Salem International, Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, Valparaiso, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Top 10 Teams: 80% of the pre-season Top 10 are in the field – Vanderbilt (2), Arkansas State (4), UMES (5), Sam Houston (6), FDU (7), Wisconsin-Whitewater (8), Stephen F. Austin (9) and Adelphi (10).

Tourney Coverage: Follow the games on Vanderbilt bowling’s Facebook and Twitter accounts. After each day’s play this website will have a detailed review.

More than Bowling: In keeping with his philosophy of educating his team beyond the sport, Coach John Williamson will take the team into New York City after its early Thursday afternoon practice session. For some team members it will be their first opportunity to experience the Big Apple in person.

Weather Looks Fine: The forecast calls for highs in the mid to upper 60s with just a slight chance of rain Friday. This is newsworthy as last year this tournament was cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy, which hit days before the scheduled start.
