A total of four Commodore bowlers were honored as Academic All-Americans by the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA).

Vanderbilt’s Therese Griner, Christine Luce, Jennifer Redmond and Jessica Tower were all awarded for their outstanding work in the classroom.

“These awards show the strength of our student athletes and their ability to excel in academics as well as competing in a varsity sport,” said Commodores Head Coach John Williamson.

The NTCA honored a total of 25 collegiate hurlers.

VU’s Griner clutches a 3.9 GPA in Secondary Education.  In her 2005 season, the St. Louis, Mo. Native hurled a 149 average in 38 total games for the Commodores.

Luce owns a 3.87 GPA of her own as a Childhood Studies major.  Luce led the 2005 Commodores with an average of 167 in 44 total games.

VU junior Jennifer Redmond tallied a 150 average on the lanes and posted a 3.79 GPA as a Civil Engineering major in the classroom.

Jessica Tower rounds out the talented foursome with a 3.5 GPA as a double major in both English and Human and Organizational Development.  The Denver, Co. product bowled in every game (54) for the Dores and scored an average of 147.

All four Commodores also earned spots on SEC Winter Honor Roll for 2005.
