National champion Vanderbilt has announced its 2018 freshman class with the signing ceremonies now complete for three top high school student-athletes.
Angelique Dalesandro of Rolling Meadows, Ill., Elizabeth Ross of Rotterdam, N.Y., and Brogan Zengel of Centerville, Ohio will be attending Vanderbilt University this fall according to Head Coach John Williamson.
“We take the identification and recruitment of elite talent very seriously,” Williamson said, “and in Angelique, Liz and Brogan we believe we have found gifted young women who will thrive on our campus. They have demonstrated success in academics and athletics and shown a willingness to work hard to compete and improve. We welcome them into the Commodore bowling family.”

Dalesandro took an unusual path to Vanderbilt. Her St. Viator High School did not field a bowling team so her entire bowling resume comes as an individual. She has never been a member of a bowling team although she has been bowling with her dad and later under the guidance of a sport coach since she was five.
Angelique caught the eye of Vanderbilt recruiters at the 2017 Junior Gold, where she placed 67th in a field of 840. She won two Elite Youth Tour events in 2017 and won qualifying in the Illinois Pepsi USBC Youth Championship Zone 3. She also won the Illinois Pepsi title in 2018 and was fifth in 2017. The academic honors graduate has a high game of 299 with a 760 series.

Ross is an honor student at Mohonasen High School in Rotterdam, N.Y., ranking 16th in a class of 233. A left-hander, she was a dominant bowling force in upstate New York, winning the Gold Medal at the New York State Championships for the high six-game series in 2018. She was the New York state champion with her all-star team in 2017 and a three-time Suburban Council first all-star team before earning MVP honors in 2018.
Liz has had a perfect 300 game, a high series of 779 and high average of 222 over 48 games. Her academic honors include the National Honor Society along with the Spanish, Science and Math Honor Societies. Her father, Ray Ross, is the head bowling coach at Schenectady County Community College.
Zengel comes from the powerful Centerville bowling program and has been a force on the national junior scene for several years.
She won two Gold, three Silver and one Bronze Medals at the 2015 Tournament of the Americas as a member of the United States Developmental team. In 2017 the left-hander won the Dayton Junior Masters and she has third and ninth place finishes in the Ohio State High School Championships.
Perhaps most impressively, she has a pair of Top 3 finishes in her age group at the prestigious Junior Gold and never missed a cut in the four years she competed. She has a 299 game and 768 series to her credit.

Brogan graduated with Scholar-Athlete designation and is a member of the French Honor Society.
