SMYRNA, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt bowing team placed third at the 2007 Music City Classic over the weekend in Smyrna, Tenn.

Despite the third place finish, the Commodores finished 8-1 for the head-to-head match ups, dropping only one contest to Central Missouri.

“We were able to be consistent for all ten games,” Vanderbilt Head Coach John Williamson said. “You strive for consistency but we didn’t have any really huge games. In the last few tournaments we’ve had big ones, but didn’t have the consistency we needed. We did really well the in match play and we just need to work on getting more pins.”

Commodore Michelle Peloquin earned All-Tournament team honors for her fifth place individual finish. Peloquin averaged 195 pins, and had a game high 227.

“She’s been a rock for us for two years, she’s capable of doing this every time she goes out,” Williamson said. “This a level that she expects to play at and this is the level we expect to play at. She’s proven she’s a difference-maker for us. She’s going to keep working hard to keep that up.”

Vandy’s Josie Earnest finished in the tournament’s top 10, averaging 193 pins per game, earning a seventh place overall finish.

Nebraska took the tournament title with a 9557 total through ten games.

Central Missouri took the runner-up prize for 9422 pins. Vanderbilt finished with 9383 pins to third place.
