A strong finish to its regular season helped Vanderbilt jump into sixth place in the March poll of the National Ten Pin Coaches Association.
The Commodores, 79-40, were second at the Greater Ozark Invitational and ended their regular season with a resounding win at their own Columbia 300 Music City Classic, where they topped a field that featured 19 of the nation’s top 20 rated teams. That championship was capped by a perfect 300 Baker game, just the third in school history. Those results helped Vandy climb from its eighth place standing in the February poll.
Arkansas State (91-29) was a unanimous choice by the college coaches as the nation’s top team with Nebraska, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Central Missouri and Fairleigh Dickinson rounding out the top five.
The NCAA will announce the field of eight for April’s NCAA Championship next Wednesday, March 26, at 3:00 CDT. The announcement can be viewed on www.ncaa.com.
