Bowlers in Championship Bracket

Nov. 9, 2013

VALPARAISO, IN—Vanderbilt continued to show tangible signs of progress but mistakes at inopportune times made Saturday a good day but not a great one.

The Commodores won four times, including a victory over Arkansas State, but dropped a pair of games in the team game play. Still, the two day pin fall was ample to get Vandy into Sunday’s championship bracket.

“We were fairly consistent today,” Coach John Williamson said, “but we made a few mistakes late that cost us the Stephen F. Austin game. I liked our win against Arkansas State because we made some shots in the ninth and tenth to put the game away but we still have not been able to put together a complete day.”

Vanderbilt opens Sunday morning competition against Central Missouri to complete round-robin play and then squares off with Arkansas State once again in the best-of-seven Baker bracket. Central Missouri and Nebraska play in the other bracket.

Natalie Goodman and Robyn Renslow led Vanderbilt were in a three-way tie for fourth place in individual standings with 203 averages over six games. Arkansas State’s Sarah Lokker led all individuals averaging 215.7.
