Bowlers Fourth at Hawk Classic

Nov. 16, 2012

MILLSBORO, DE—Vanderbilt was in fourth place after the first day of the Hawk Classic after winning three of five Baker games.

The Commodores defeated Sam Houston State and St. Francis to start the day’s four-game Baker action before losing to a red-hot Stephen F. Austin team. Vanderbilt rebounded in the next match, topping New Jersey City before closing the afternoon with a narrow lose to Fairleigh Dickinson.

“We had some of the same issues as last week,” Coach John Williamson said. “On the whole, while we were uneven I saw more good things than bad. We ran into a buzz saw with Stephen F., who hit us with 135 more pins than they had the game before and our FDU match went down to the finish.”

Vanderbilt used a rotation of Amanda Fry, Nicole Mosesso, Natalie Goodman, Robyn Renslow and Jessica Earnest for the first three games. In the final two games, Kim Carper replaced Goodman.

Saturday’s play consists of five team games.
