As they continue posturing for a postseason berth, the Vanderbilt women have two crucial home games this week, hosting rival Tennessee on Thursday night and Kentucky on Sunday afternoon. Both games — which are likely to have a significant impact on the heavily-crowded SEC standings — will include promotions and events. Here’s a closer look at what’s happening and what’s ahead for the Commodores.

VANDERBILT vs. TENNESSEE
Feb. 11: Employee Celebration Night

The Commodores host their in-state rivals at 8 p.m. (SEC Network) on Employee Celebration Night at Memorial Gym. The game against Tennessee is historically one of the most well-attended games of the season. Vanderbilt employees and their families are invited to attend the game and are also invited to attend the pregame Fan Fest in the Memorial Practice Gym that will include food, games and inflatables. For information, click HERE.

Vanderbilt will enter the game just one game behind Tennessee in the SEC standings, and the Commodores will be looking to split the season series with the Lady Vols. (Tennessee beat Vanderbilt, 58-49, in Knoxville last month). Vanderbilt has defeated Tennessee three times during head coach Melanie Balcomb’s tenure, with the most recent win being during the 2013-14 season.

VANDERBILT vs. KENTUCKY
Feb. 14: Pink game

Vanderbilt’s game against Kentucky on Feb. 14 has been marked as this season’s “Play for Kay/Pink-out” game at Memorial Gym. Fans are encouraged to wear pink, and the Vanderbilt players will also be wearing special uniforms as the WBB program shows its support for the fight against breast cancer. Here’s a look at some of the special events taking place:

l Pink Out shirts to the first 300 fans
l Pink pompoms will be available for fans and the color pink is encouraged to be worn at the game.
l Special Pink Out programs will be available at the Southeast Entrance of the gym.
l Ribbons – fans can write the names of family members or friends who have been impacted by cancer. (Ribbons will be available in the Southeast Lobby). The ribbons will be collected at halftime and will later be displayed at the Ingram Cancer Center.
l The game will also feature a special game-ball presentation that will help raise awareness for the fight against cancer.

The Kay Yow Cancer Fund, in partnership with the WBCA and The V Foundation, is a charitable organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women’s cancers through raising money for scientific research and related projects, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause. It is named in honor of Kay Yow, the former North Carolina State University head coach, who passed away on Jan. 24, 2009, after facing her third bout with the disease. To date, the Fund has contributed more than $5-million in support of women’s cancer research.

GIVE AWAYS
At all home games, Vanderbilt fans can look forward to several in-game promotions, including the T-shirt toss (thrown by cheerleaders during timeouts) and gold-shaker giveaways. There are also free posters and wallet-sized schedules available at the marketing tables, and miniature basketballs will be throw into the stands during select timeouts.
