Ballard Named Newcomer of the Month Again

Freshman earns honor for second time this season

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — For the second time this season, Alyssa Ballard has been honored with a Southland Bowling League award.

Ballard, on Friday, was named the league’s Newcomer of the Month for her performances in January. She was also tabbed the Newcomer (and Bowler) of the Month for November.

A freshman, Ballard finished seventh at the Prairie View Invitational where she had a 212.2 average in helping the Commodores to the team championship. She had a high game of 262 during that event.

To start January, the Texas native placed 21st overall at the Stormin’ Blue & White Classic in Las Vegas. She had a 207 average there with a high game of 226.

Ballard also competed for Vandy at the Northeast Classic where she came in 45th with an average of 199.4 and a 225 as her best game of the event.

Ballard has made two all-tournament teams this season and won the Ladyjack Classic in November.

Vanderbilt and Ballard are scheduled to return to action Feb. 10-12 at the Lady Techster Classic in Dallas Texas.
