Baldwin IV claims SEC Freshman of the Week honor

Nov. 24, 2014

Commodore freshman guard Wade Baldwin IV claimed the Southeastern Conference’s Freshman of the Week honor for his play last week against Lipscomb and Tennessee State, when he averaged 9.5 points, 7.5 assists, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in the two Vanderbilt wins. The award is the first honor for Baldwin IV, and the first for the Commodores this season.

Baldwin IV had 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals in leading the Commodores over Lipscomb and followed that game up with a 10-assist performance against Tennessee State. The 10-assist game was the first for Vanderbilt since Kyle Fuller dished out 10 assists in a win over Tennessee on February 5, 2014.

The honor for Baldwin IV is the 11th Freshman of the Week award for a Commodore player, and the first since Damian Jones was recognized on February 24, 2014.

The Commodores return to the floor Tuesday night against Norfolk State at Memorial Gym (7 p.m., SEC Network Plus).
