7/13/2006 NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Head Women’s Basketball Coach Melanie Balcomb, in conjunction with the Vanderbilt Speakers Bureau, will deliver the keynote address to athletes and coaches at the opening ceremonies of the 2006 AAU Division II 13U National Championships on Friday, July 14, at Allen Arena on the campus of Lipscomb University. The event is scheduled for 6 p.m., with Balcomb’s remarks slotted to start around 6:45. Between 60-80 teams of girls 13 and under are slated to attend the event, which kicks off a week of outstanding girls’ basketball action hosted by the Nashville Sports Council (for more information, visit http://www.nashvillesports.com). Games will be played at local gymnasiums across the Nashville area including high schools, middle schools, academies, and universities, with the championship game at Allen Arena on July 21. Also of note, VU senior point guard and All-America candidate Dee Davis will be the honorary torch bearer during the opening ceremonies. |
