Women’s Basketball Head Coach Melanie Balcomb and members of her coaching staff participated in the Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Flualapalooza on Wednesday, October 12. Balcomb, along with Assistant Coach Vicky Picott and other staff members, received their flu shots as part of a campus wide effort by the VUMC.

Flulapalooza served as a way for the Medical Center to practice its emergency preparedness by testing its ability to give out mass vaccinations in the event of a pandemic in Nashville.

The event set a Guinness World Record for flu shots in one day, with the Med Center vaccinating over 12,000 people. They broke the previous record of 6,215 in a mere four hours.
