Freshman Liz Anderson was named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday afternoon.
At Pre-Nationals over the weekend, Anderson finished seventh out of 128 runners, with a time of 22:02. Her time in the Open Race was one of the fastest times ever for a Vanderbilt freshman and the fastest a Commodore has ever run on the NCAA 6K championship course.
The Louisville, Ky., native ran equal to or faster than her seasonal and personal bests in the 4K (14:30) and 5K (18:12) on her way to a personal best 6K time.
The Vanderbilt cross country teams are back in action Nov. 1 at the SEC Championships in Columbia, S.C.
