NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Ryanne Allen was chosen the SEC Freshman of the Week on Tuesday as announced by the league office, marking the second time this season the Vanderbilt women’s basketball guard has been recognized.
She was honored after scoring 12 points—the first time she has reached double figures since Dec. 8—and grabbing a career-best six rebounds while adding two assists and a block to help the Commodores to a 78-70 victory over Arkansas on Thursday. Allen then went 2 of 3 from 3-point range at Tennessee on Sunday, giving the freshman multiple 3-point field goals in four of the last five contests, and she again handed out multiple assists with two more against the Lady Vols.
Allen first picked up the award on Dec. 13 following a performance that saw her post 14 points on 4-of-6 shooting from 3-point range in Vandy’s road win at Louisiana Tech the previous week.
The Dores return to action with a 6 p.m. tip at Alabama on Thursday.
