First Round Scoreboard

Vanderbilt rising sophomore Marina Alex shot a first-round, one-under par 70 at the Old Warson Golf Club in St. Louis, Mo., and is in a tie for fourth heading into the second round of stroke play at the U.S. Women’s Amateur. Incoming freshman Anna Leigh Keith of Moultrie, Ga., also teed it up today and ended her first round with a 12-over par, 83 (T-139th).

Alex posted four birdies, three bogeys, and 11 pars in her way around the course today. Only three golfers carded better scores than the Wayne, N.J., native on Monday – Amy Anderson, who leads the tournament at three-under par (-3), and Kimberly Kim and Ha Na Jang, who are one stroke better than Alex at two-under (-2).

Alex tees off of number one at 1:25 CT Tuesday at Old Warson, while Keith goes off of number one at 8:48 a.m.

Match play continues through Tuesday, with the best 64 players advancing to the first round of match play on Wednesday. The second and third rounds will take place on Thursday, the quarters Friday, the semifinals Saturday, and the 36-hole final on Sunday.
