PALO ALTO, Calif. — The Vanderbilt women’s golf team is in 12th place after the first day of play at the Stanford Intercollegiate after posting a team score of 289, with freshman Marina Alex leading all Commodores with an even-par 71, which ties her for 28th place.
Jacqui Concolino and Megan Grehan each posted a one-over, 72, which ties for 34th place. Andrea Messer fired a first-round 74 (T-54), and Brooke Goodwin ended the first day with a 78 (T-78) to close out the Commodore scoring.
UCLA leads the tournament with a 277, one stroke better than Oklahoma State, who is at 278, and two strokes better than USC and host Stanford, who sit at 279.
Oklahoma State’s Caroline Mason shot a 65 to lead all individuals. Lizette Salas of USC is one stroke back in second place with a 66.
The second round continues for Vanderbilt on Saturday from the Stanford Golf Course.
