Nick Laning earns CoSIDA Academic All-District honors

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Rising junior Nick Laning was named to the men’s cross country CoSIDA Academic All-District team as announced by the organization on Friday.

A civil engineering major, Laning holds a 3.99 GPA and advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced from June 22-25. Earlier this year, he also earned academic honors from the SEC and USTFCCCA.

In 2019, Laning became the second man in program history and first since 1966 to earn All-SEC honors. He also earned All-Region honors with his 20th-place finish of 30:58.6 in the 10-kilometer NCAA Regional race.

Laning finished first for the Commodores in every race in 2019. At the SEC meet, he was 12th overall (23:21.8) and helped Vanderbilt to its lowest point total at the conference meet since 1980. While at the Regional meet, Laning and the men beat out four SEC teams and finished 11th with 303 points.
