27 Commodores Named To SEC Freshmen Academic Honor Roll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Southeastern Conference named 27 members of the 2003-04 Vanderbilt freshmen class to its annual Freshmen Academic Honor Roll, league commissioner Mike Slive announced Thursday, July 8.

The list, which includes a total of 427 freshmen student-athletes, is based on grades from the 2003-04 academic calendar. The 27 Commodores named to the list join 120 VU honorees from the league’s fall, winter and spring academic honor rolls, which excluded freshmen.

For Vanderbilt, the women’s track & field squad led the way with seven freshmen honoreesm, while the women’s lacrosse team featured five honorees. The women’s soccer and women’s tennis teams had full representation. Members of seven other VU teams also were recognized by the conference.
