Panarin Punches Ticket

Commodores represented in singles for the first since 2022

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt freshman Danil Panarin will represent the Commodores, at the NCAA Division I Singles Championships in Stillwater, Oklahoma it was announced Tuesday. Panarin’s invitation is the first to for Vandy since George Harwell competed in 2022.

Panarin finished 14-10 overall in the season, competing primarily at the No. 1 position as a freshman. Notable victories for Panarin include defeats over then-ranked No. 66 Quinn Vandecasteele (Oregon), No. 24 Taha Baadi (Kentucky), No. 43 Tyler Stice (Auburn) and No. 52 Jeremy Jin (Florida).

After finishing the season ranked No. 46, Panarin was named SEC Freshman of the Year last week—the first for the program since Ryan Lipman shared the honor in 2010—in addition to being named to the All-Freshman team and All-SEC second team.

Last season the Commodores were represented by Jeremie Casabon and Siim Troost, who competed in the NCAA Doubles Championship and fell to Georgia Tech’s Andres Martin and Marcus McDaniel in the first round.

The championships are scheduled for May 20-25 at Oklahoma State’s Greenwood Tennis Center.
