Vandy faces fourth ranked opponent of season

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt lacrosse visits No. 16 James Madison on Saturday morning in Harrisonburg, Virginia in the final road game of the 2024 regular season. Opening draw is set for 11 a.m. CT and will air on ESPN+.

Vandy improved to 2-2 in American Athletic Conference play by defeating East Carolina 14-13 on Saturday in Music City. Brooke Baker registered her third game of the season scoring five goals while junior Kemper Robinson registered her fifth hat trick. Both Baker and Robinson earned AAC Honor Roll for their performances. Ella Smith scored twice for the Dores on Saturday and dished two assists, posted three draw controls and had one caused turnover.

James Madison suffered its first conference loss of the season on Saturday, as the Dukes fell to No. 9 Florida in a 15-7 decision in Gainesville, Florida. Isabella Peterson led all scorers with four goals against the Gators. Peterson leads the conference by averaging 4.00 goals per game and has the second-most points per game average with 4.54. Maddie Epke had a game-high six draw controls in the Dukes’ loss and averages the second-most draw controls per game in the conference at 9.50.

Saturday’s contest will be just the third meeting between the two programs in a series that sits 1-1 overall. The first meeting came in 2004, when the Commodores topped James Madison 10-4. Last year, the Dukes evened the series in Music City with an 18-1 decision.
