Three Dores Garner SEC Honors

Tillie Claggett leads way on second team, Ava Merrill named all-freshman selection

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Three Commodores earned All-SEC recognition on Wednesday, led by Tillie Claggett on the second team and Ava Merrill on the all-freshman team. Celina Sattelkau was tabbed to the community service team.

Claggett led Vanderbilt this season with a scoring average of 71.95 and also provided the low-round of the year with a 6-under 66 at the Mason Rudolph Challenge. The sophomore recorded four top-10 finishes, including a tie for second at the Mason Rudolph. The All-SEC honor is the second for Claggett who was named to the all-freshman team in 2023.

Merrill’s all-freshman selection marked the third-straight season a Commodore rookie has earned the honor, tying for the longest streak in program history. Merrill produced three top-10 finishes, including a pair of top-5 marks, in nine events. She carded a low round of 4-under 68 at the FAU Paradise Invitational en route to a tied for sixth finish to open the spring.

Sattelkau was named to the SEC community service team for her volunteer efforts throughout the Nashville area. The graduate student has donated her time with multiple elementary schools, Second Harvest Food Bank, Nashville Rescue Mission and the Nashville Humane Society among numerous other volunteer efforts.

The Commodores return to action at the NCAA Bryan Regional beginning Monday. Vandy is the No. 4 seed in the regional as the Dores aim to advance to the NCAA Championships for a third-straight season.
