Wrapping Up the Regular Season

Dores face a pair of Tigers in final week before SEC Tournament begins

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt will be looking for one last bit of Memorial Magic as the Commodores enter the final week of the SEC regular season.

Vanderbilt (12-16, 3-11 SEC) hosts No. 5/4 LSU (24-1, 12-1 SEC) on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. (SEC Network+) in Memorial Gymnasium before traveling to play Auburn on Sunday at 3 p.m. (SEC Network).

The Commodores lost to LSU 88-63 in the first game between the teams this season on New Year’s Day in Baton Rouge. This will be Vandy’s first meeting with Auburn this season.

The LSU matchup will feature the top two scorers in the SEC. LSU sophomore forward Angel Reese leads the conference at 23.8 points and Vandy graduate guard Ciaja Harbison is second at 19.4.

Sacha Washington produced the best scoring and rebounding games of her Vanderbilt career last week while notching back-to-back double-doubles. The sophomore forward scored a career-high 26 points in a loss to Alabama and grabbed a season-high 15 rebounds in a win over Kentucky.

Along with her scoring, Harbison ranks tied for first in the SEC in steals per game (2.5) and ranks No. 3 in assists (4.4).

Vandy graduate guard Marnelle Garraud leads the SEC in 3-pointers made with 78. She is shooting 40 percent from deep and averaging 14.2 points per game.

Harbison and Garraud lead the SEC in minutes played at 36.6 and 35.8, respectively.

The Commodores are averaging 8.5 steals per game, forcing 17.4 turnovers and shooting an SEC-leading 74.1 percent from the free throw line.
