Dores on the Road to Face SEC Foes

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Fifth-ranked Vanderbilt women’s tennis travels to Alabama this weekend to face No. 36 Auburn followed by Alabama on Sunday. 
 
Striving to remain undefeated in SEC play, the Commodores will face Auburn at 2 p.m. CT Friday at the Yarbrough Tennis Center. 
 
The Tigers are currently riding a two-match losing streak and boast a 13-4 record. Auburn remains undefeated at home marking 10 home victories. 
 
In the last matchup between the Commodores and the Tigers, Vanderbilt held the Tigers to just one point in a 4-1 victory. This weekend’s match will mark Auburn’s first home SEC matchup.
 
Closing out its road weekend, the Dores take on Alabama at the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT.
 
Alabama currently rides a three-match losing streak maintaining a 10-5 record. The Tide boasts a 9-1 home record with a loss to Ilinois marking their lone loss. 
 
Sunday’s meeting between the Commodores and Crimson Tide marks the 45th meeting between the two SEC teams. Vanderbilt leads the overall series, 27-17. 
 
The Commodores collected the win over the Tide in the last matchup, shutting out Alabama, 4-0. 
 
Vanderbilt enters the weekend featuring five student-athletes in the top 100 singles rankings and four Commodore pairings in the top 60 doubles rankings according to the ITA.
