Commodores West Coast Bound

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- No.7 Vanderbilt women’s tennis travels cross-country to California to battle against No. 24 California and No. 4 Stanford.

Kicking off the first match of the weekend, the Commodores face a 4-1 California team at the Hellman Tennis Complex.

California features three players in the Oracle/ITA top-100: Olivia Hauger (No. 20), Julia Rosenqvist (No. 45) and Anna Bright (No. 69).

The Golden bears sport a three-match winning streak with their lone loss coming to South Carolina.

On Saturday, the Commodores face a 5-1 Stanford team, which boasts a loss to Georgia at the ITA Indoors as its only loss.

Last season, the Dores fell short to Stanford in the NCAA National Championship final in a hard-fought battle, 4-3.

Leading into the rematch, Stanford features eight players in the Oracle/ITA top-100 with Michaela Gordon leading the Cardinals at No. 16.

The Commodores are eager to earn redemption against the Cardinals this weekend.

“We’re thrilled to be in California. We’re excited to compete against two of the best programs in the history of tennis this weekend,” said head coach Geoff Macdonald. “Coming off of a top win against Pepperdine, California will be a really good contest followed by the rematch against Stanford. Over the years, this match has developed into a very good rivalry. We have lots of respect for both teams and look forward to competing in Northern California.”
