Final Meet of Season on Deck

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt swimming will travel five student-athletes to Cleveland, Ohio, to compete in the CSCAA National Invitational.

Three freshmen and two sophomores will represent the Commodores in the season’s final meet — freshmen Abby Burke, Lizzy Colwell, Tonner DeBeer and sophomores Brooke Ellis and Hannah Hunt.

The Commodores last took the pool competing in the SEC Championships where they earned a 12th-place finish.

Wrapping up the conference championships, the Dores collected one school record, three freshman records and 11 personal-best times.

DeBeer enters the CSCAA National Invitational with confidence after earning Vanderbilt’s school record in the 100-yard backstroke (54.36) at the SEC Championships and shattered the freshman school record in the 50-yard freestyle (23.19).

Fellow freshman Burke also earned stellar performances in her SEC Championships debut racing in top relays along with Colwell.

Racing in the 400-yard individual medley Colwell broke Vanderbilt’s previous freshman record touching in 4:20.91.

Ellis and Hunt both raced season and lifetime bests at the SEC Championships. The pair looks to set more records this weekend.
