Commodores Regular Season Debut Set for Wagner

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt kicks off the 2019 regular season at home on Sunday at 1 p.m. against Wagner College at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Complex.

This is the Commodores’ first regular season game under new head coach Beth Hewitt. The Commodores return seven starters from last season, including All-BIG EAST selections Julie Blaze and Emily Mathewson.

The Dores were voted to finish second in the American Athletic Conference (AAC) in the Coaches Preseason Poll.

The AAC is set to begin its first season hosting women’s lacrosse. Vanderbilt is joined by former Big East members Cincinnati, Connecticut, Florida and Temple. East Carolina joins the conference after spending last season as an independent.

Last week, the Commodores defeated Indianapolis in an exhibition, 20-8. The Commodores fell behind 1-0, but dominated the rest of the game to secure their lone exhibition victory this year.

All admissions to Vanderbilt lacrosse games are free and can also be viewed live via Facebook Live on the Vanderbilt Athletics page.
