Vanderbilt women’s tennis named All-Academic Team, six earn recognitions

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Announced Monday, Vanderbilt women’s tennis has been named an ITA All-Academic Team while the Commodores had six student-athletes earn Scholar-Athlete status.

With six named Scholar-Athletes, this marks the third time in four years Vanderbilt has had at least six individuals earn the recognition. Both Christina Rosca and Emma Kurtz have now been named to the list each of their five years with the program.

Additionally, Anna Ross earned her second nod in as many years while Lauren Gish also picked up her third honor. Both of Vanderbilt’s 2020-21 freshmen – Anessa Lee and Holly Staff – were also recognized.

Overall, 1,505 Division I women student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete and 210 women’s tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.

To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must meet the following criteria: be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
