Commodore Notes

The Monday doubleheader marked the beginning of a seven-game stretch in seven days for the Commodores. On Wednesday, Vandy cruised to a 12-1 victory over Western Kentucky behind a strong offensive performance at Hawkins Field. In the series opener against Georgia State on Friday, Vanderbilt left 13 runners on base and surrendered a crucial, late home run in its first loss of the season. A solo home run from Carter Young proved to be the difference on Saturday afternoon at Hawkins Field, as the Vanderbilt held off Georgia State with a 5-4 victory to even the series at one apiece. In Sunday’s doubleheader at Hawkins Field, Vanderbilt used strong offensive performances to cruise to a pair of victories over Georgia State to claim the series.
