Commodore Notes
No. 12 Vanderbilt ended the regular season with a series win at home against No. 2 Arkansas. After falling 11-2 in the opener Thursday night, the Commodores responded in dramatic fashion with an eight-run rally in the eighth inning to overcome a six-run deficit and beat the Razorbacks 10-8. Vanderbilt’s eighth-inning comeback was highlighted by a three-run home run by Troy LaNeve, his first long ball on the season, that put the Commodores in front for the first time. Nick Maldonado shut the door in the ninth for his seventh save.

Vanderbilt fell behind 2-0 early in the series finale on Saturday. Once again, LaNeve hit a three-run homer, this time in the bottom of the second to give Vandy a 3-2 lead. Arkansas retook the lead with four runs in the fifth but the Dores rallied with a three-run sixth ti go up 7-6. Maldonado took the mound in the ninth for the second consecutive game and again earned the save, his eighth.

Vanderbilt earned the No. 4 seed in this week’s SEC Tournament in Hoover, Alabama. The Commodores will play either 5-seed Auburn or 12-seed Missouri on Wednesday at approximately 8 p.m. on SEC Network.
