Vanderbilt Tabbed Third

Commodores one of five ranked SEC teams to start season

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – As voted upon by the league’s head coaches, Vanderbilt was predicted to finish third in the Southeastern Conference according to the preseason poll released Tuesday.

The 17th-ranked Commodores kick off conference play in Nashville on Sept. 22 against No. 10 Tennessee.

Three other SEC teams are ranked nationally in the preseason top 25 — Texas A&M (No. 12), South Carolina (No. 15) and LSU (No. 24).

Last season, the Commodores were picked to finish ninth in the SEC but went on to win their first SEC title since 1994. The historic season included an 8-1-1 conference record with a six-game win streak to begin conference play.
