Vanderbilt's SEC Network Takeover Set For Friday

Commodore programming will be featured throughout July 16 on SEC Network

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — SEC Network is dropping anchor starting Thursday with wall-to-wall programming of Commodore games and moments beginning late that night and running continuously for 24 hours through Friday.

The full slate of the day on SEC Network looks like:

Baseball at LSU; April 2, 2021
The Commodores used early offense to cruise to an 11-2 victory over LSU and claim the series. Vandy jumped out to an early lead to gain the momentum which would carry them to their 14th consecutive conference road win.

Eight of nine starters reached base safely for Vanderbilt as the team scored more than 10 runs for the third consecutive contest.

Soccer at Florida; October 18, 2020
Equalizing in the 80th minute and scoring the game-winner in double overtime, Vanderbilt fought back from a first-half deficit to beat Florida 2-1 for a key SEC East road victory. Myra Konte’s game-winning goal came in the 103rd minute when Leila Azari lofted a ball toward the back-right post.

Falling to the feet of a host of players from both sides, Konte fought for the ball on the outskirts of the play and as she fell to the ground she got her right foot on the ball and powered it over the line.

Men’s Basketball vs. Texas A&M; SEC Tournament | First Round; March 10, 201
Vanderbilt broke Texas A&M’s zone defense with a barrage of 3s and won its first postseason game since 2017 with a 79-68 win in the first round of the SEC Tournament at Bridgestone Arena.

The Commodores sank 12 triples and led for 36:27 of the contest. Scotty Pippen Jr. led Vandy in the win with 22 points (making 15 free throws), six assists, four rebounds (all offensive) and three steals. DJ Harvey scored 17 and Maxwell Evans contributed 12.

Baseball vs. South Carolina; March 20, 2021
Jack Leiter pitched what is to believed to be the first Vanderbilt regular-season no-hitter in Vanderbilt history since 1971 in a 5-0 win over South Carolina at Hawkins Field.

After walking the game’s first hitter Leiter was perfect in shutting down 27 straight South Carolina hitters. He struck out 16 – a career-high. Over nine innings Leiter threw 124 pitches – 81 for strikes. He induced eight fly outs, three groundouts and the fanned the rest.

Soccer vs. Arkansas; SEC Tournament | Championship; November 22, 2020
The Commodores became champions.

Vanderbilt beat Arkansas 3-1 in the SEC Tournament championship giving the program its first league tournament title since 1994. Vandy overcame a 1-0 deficit thanks to goals by Kimya RaietparvarRaegan Kelley and Abi Brighton.

The Commodores scored 14 goals in four tournament matches – an SEC Tournament record – and became the second team in SEC Tournament history since it expanded to include 10 teams to win four matches en route to a championship.

Men’s Golf; SEC Championship | Final Day; April 25, 2021
Vanderbilt captured the 2021 Southeastern Conference title.

The Commodores beat Arkansas 3-2 on the Seaside Course at the Sea Island Golf Club to win their second league championship in the past four chances. Vandy also won the 2017 title.

William Moll, a sophomore, sank a par putt on 18 to clinch the match which was tied 2-2 at that point. Moll won 1-up over Manual Lozada.

Earlier in the day, Vandy advanced to the championship match with a 4-1- win over Alabama. The Commodores got a 5&4 win from Cole Sherwood and then a 4&2 win for Reid Davenport.

Senior Harrison Ott then sank a long birdie putt on 17 to clinch the match with a 3&1 victory. Matthew Riedel also won his match 3&1 while Moll fell 3&1.

Men’s Basketball vs. Ole Miss; February 27, 2021
In the final home game for four Vanderbilt seniors, five players scored in double figures and Vandy controlled the second half in a 75-70 win over visiting Ole Miss.

Head coach Jerry Stackhouse’s team had 16 assists on 26 made shots, sank 11 3-pointers while shooting 53 percent overall. Freshman Trey Thomas led the way for the Commodores with 14 points while Issac McBride and Maxwell Evans each had 13, Jordan Wright scored 12 and DJ Harvey added 10.

Baseball vs. Mississippi State; April 23, 2021
Junior Kumar Rocker went the distance as the second-ranked Vanderbilt baseball team downed No. 4 Mississippi State 6-2 at Hawkins Field.

Rocker notched the second complete game of his career — first since 2019 — to pick up his nation-leading ninth win of the season and improve to 9-1 on the campaign. The right-hander allowed two runs (one earned), while limiting the Bulldog hitters to just three hits on the evening. After allowing a run in the very first frame, Rocker went on to retire the side in five of his next eight innings of work while finishing with eight strikeouts.

Football Black and Gold Spring Game; April 17, 2021
Vanderbilt’s offense put on a show in the first half of the program’s annual spring game leading the White Team to a 68-30 victory over the Black Team at Vanderbilt Stadium.

Wide receiver Will Sheppard and quarterback Mike Wright had notable performances in the culmination of spring practice for first-year head coach Clark Lea.
