Vanderbilt Heads to Mississippi

Meet hosted by Ole Miss

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt track and field will be represented by 23 student-athletes at the two-day Joe Walker Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

Nicole Anderson, Haley Bishop, Joslin Blair, Kaira Brown, Jess Creedon, Josephine Dal, Kaitlyn DeutschCaroline Eck, Cameron Fawcett, Madison Fuller, Grace Jensen, Divine Oladipo, Jacqueline Pinon, Laine Roberts, Julia Rosenberg, Taiya Shelby, Jada Sims, Jordan Smith, and Haley Walker are competing for the Commodores this weekend.

The meet is hosted by Ole Miss and is the site of the upcoming SEC Outdoor Championships in May. Vanderbilt will compete in the 100 meter, 200 meter, 400 meter, 800 meter, 1,500 meter, 5,000 meter, 4×100 meter relay, 4×400 meter relay, pole vault, shot put, discus, and heptathlon.

Last weekend at the weather altered Pepsi Florida Relays, the Dores dominated despite the outdoor conditions. On day 1, Bishop and Blair etched their names into the record book. Bishop’s time of 23.51 in the 200 meters is now Vandy’s second-best time. Blair’s fifth place 3,000 meter steeplechase of10:53.81 also cracked the top-10 all-time.

Oladipo notched another school record on day 2 of the meet, taking the top mark in all-time in the shot put at 17.43 meters. This is also the top mark currently in the SEC and third-best in the nation. Jensen’s outdoor personal best of 2:07.70 in the 800 meters in another top-10 all-time performance.

Jonah Bird, Zach Hodges, Nick Laning, and Philip Metcalf will also compete for Vanderbilt in the men’s 1,500 and 5,000 meters.
