Two Dores Named to All-SEC Team

Natasha Kiel, Jayna Choi earn first career All-SEC honors

NASHVILLE, Tenn. –  With the NCAA Championships ahead for the Vanderbilt women’s golf team, the Commodores landed two golfers on the Southeastern Conference’s All-SEC team, announced Thursday by the league office.

Natasha Kiel was named to the All-Freshman team and Jayna Choi was selected for the league’s Community Service Team.

Kiel competed in four events this season and recorded three rounds under par. In only her second career start and first on the road, Kiel shot a career-low 67 in the final round of the FAU Paradise Invitational, where she earned her first career top-five finish (tied for fifth-overall). With a career-low 208 (-8), she’s tied for the 12th lowest 54-hole score in program history.

The SEC Freshman of the Week on Feb. 10, Kiel has a stroke average this season of 74.42. She’s also Vandy’s first All-Freshman honoree since 2019.

Choi competed in seven events this season, including Vanderbilt’s win at the NCAA Franklin Regional, where she posted a career-best 54-hole score of 212 (-4).

In the community, the junior has spent the majority of her service time as a team captain with Miracle Network Dance Marathon, a student-led movement on campus supporting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals that raises funds all year long for children at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt by hosting various events and fundraisers around campus. As the leader for the women’s golf team, Choi raised funds and financial support through donations, as well as working with Dance Marathon leaders to plan and execute team meet and greets with their assigned miracle child.

Choi, a Collierville, Tennessee native, has also excelled in the classroom during her time at Vanderbilt. The human and organizational development major has made the SEC Academic Honor Roll as a freshman and sophomore during her Vandy career.

The recently crowned NCAA Regional champions return to action next weekend for their 11th trip to the NCAA Championships. Vandy looks for their first NCAA team title as they travel to Grayhawk Golf Club (Raptor Course) in Scottsdale, Arizona, for their season finale. Live coverage of the final round of stroke play and all rounds of match play will be televised live on GOLF Channel.
