NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Three Vanderbilt student-athletes were recognized by the National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society the organization announced Wednesday.

Representing the Commodores are Scott Meyer, Conor Mignone and Andre Mintze. Vandy has placed at least three on the NFF Hampshire Honor Society in five of the last six seasons.

The 2021 NFF Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 grade-point average or better throughout their college careers. An elite group of 910 student-athletes from 255 schools qualified for membership in 2021, the Society’s 15th year. The initiative has now honored 13,077 student-athletes since its inception.

“We are pleased to honor another impressive group of athletes as part of this year’s Hampshire Honor Society,” NFF President & CEO Steve Hatchell said. “For more than a decade the Hampshire Honor Society has served as a powerful vehicle for schools to recognize their college football players who have distinguished themselves both academically and athletically and we congratulate the schools and each of these young men for their commitment to excellence in all aspects of their lives.”

Meyer began his career at Alabama before transferring to Vanderbilt for the 2019 and 2020 seasons. He played in 20 games as a Commodore serving as the primary snapper for all Vanderbilt punts and conversions the last two years.

As a fifth-year senior in 2020, Meyer was an SEC Academic Honor Roll selection and played in eight games. He booked one special teams tackle.

Prior to arriving on West End, Meyer received his undergraduate degree from Alabama in news media, journalism and creative media. The Alpharetta, Georgia, product was the primary snapper for the Crimson Tide in 2017 when it captured the national championship.

A senior in 2020, Mignone played in and started eight games for the Commodores. A native of Redding, Connecticut, Mignone started the first four games at right tackle before starting next three at right guard. He was the starting right tackle for his final game at Missouri.

Mignone was part of an offensive line that provided pass protection for the Commodores to rank 31st nationally in completion percentage (63.8). He also worked with an offense that increased its total offensive yards per game, passing yards per game, passing yards per completion, passing yards per attempt and third-down conversion percentage from 2019 to 2020.

Mignone arrived at Vanderbilt following four seasons at Central Connecticut. He was a three-time All-Northeast Conference first team pick as a Blue Devil and the 2017 league offensive rookie of the year.

Mintze, a two-time captain, helped Vanderbilt to an appearance in the 2018 Texas Bowl and consecutive victories against in-state rival Tennessee (2017-18). He played in 43 career games for the Commodores and made 18 starts.

A 2020 preseason All-Southeastern Conference selection, Mintze totaled 75 career tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, five quarterback pressures, three caused fumbles and one fumble recovery. As a fifth-year senior in 2020, Mintze was an SEC Academic Honor Roll selection as well as the team’s SEC Community Service representative. He was one of 10 semifinalists for the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award, one of 30 candidates for Senior CLASS Award and a Wuerffel Trophy nominee.

During the 2019 season, Mintze booked a career-high 40 tackles with 7.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. His two tackles for loss against Missouri in 2019 helped the Commodores to a 21-14 victory against the nationally-ranked Tigers. Mintze booked his first collegiate sack in the Texas Bowl against Baylor to end the 2018 campaign.
