This Week on West End

Looking ahead to what's on deck for the Commodores this week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Each week This Week on West End takes a closer look at what’s in store for the Commodores in the coming days.

The Vanderbilt men’s basketball team will take its first road trip of the season when it heads to North Carolina to face Davidson. Vanderbilt men’s golfers will also be in action around the country competing as individuals in amateur tournaments.

Here’s more of all the other happenings around West End this week:

Men’s basketball

Vanderbilt recovered from its first loss of the season last week to grind out a 59-50 win over Radford on Sunday. Scotty Pippen Jr. had 25 points in that victory as the Commodores (3-1) played without head coach Jerry Stackhouse.

At 6 p.m. CT Tuesday, Vandy will face a Davidson team coming off a 67-58 win at Rhode Island. The Wildcats (4-3) have won 3 of 4 for head coach Bob McKillop who is two wins shy of 600 for his career.

Vanderbilt and Davidson have met eight times previously with the Dores winning six of those matchups, including last season’s game (76-71) at Memorial Gymnasium.

Men’s golf

Many of Vanderbilt’s golfers will be on the course of the next few weeks competing in amateur tournaments.

The South Beach International Amateur features three Commodores and concludes Monday and former Vandy standout John Augenstein begins play in the Palmer Cup on Monday.

Vanderbilt golfers will also be in action at the Patriot All-America and Orlando International Amateur starting this weekend.
