NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt soccer travels for a matchup against conference rival Tennessee on Sunday at 3 p.m. CT at Regal Soccer Stadium. The match will air on SEC Network+.
Vanderbilt (5-2-3, 0-2-1) suffered its second consecutive loss on Thursday against No. 2 Arkansas in a 2-0 decision. The Dores took seven shots on Arkansas’ keeper Keegan Smith, who saved each one. Vandy’s keeper Kate Devine tallied three saves on the night, all in the second half. Devine has registered 158 saves over her career, just two shy of passing Lauren Whitt to slide into sixth all-time. Vivian Akyirem and Mia Gonzalez registered their first career Vanderbilt starts during Sunday’s match.
Tennessee (6-1-2, 1-0-1) is coming off a postponed match against Florida that will be rescheduled due to Hurricane Helene implications. The Volunteers have four conference points after tying Alabama and defeating Ole Miss earlier this season. Kameron Simmonds leads the Lady Vols with eight goals this season and 19 points while keeper Ally Zazzara has the fourth most shutouts in the conference this season (five).
Vandy leads the series all-time 17-12-4. The Dores will look to break a two-game losing streak against the Vols. The two squads faced last season in Nashville for the regular season finale, where Tennessee defeated the Commodores,1-0, to advance to the SEC Tournament. The two teams last met in Knoxville during the 2022 season where Vandy suffered a 2-0 loss.
