NASHVILLE – No. 13 Vanderbilt heads to Waco, Texas, to take on No. 10 Baylor in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday at 7 p.m. CT.

The Bears received the No. 2 seed in the tournament after posting an 18-5 record and securing the Big 12 regular season championship.

The Commodores (16-3-1) advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season after defeating Murray State, 4-0, last weekend at the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex.

Four different Commodores scored in the game with freshman Haley Hopkins starting things off with her team-leading 13th goal of the season. She later assisted on the second goal of the game when Grace Jackson extended the lead to 2-0.

Raegan Kelley capped the first half with a goal off a defensive miscue for her second goal this season. Brook Colangelo then notched her first goal of the season in the second half to make it 4-0.

Hopkins’ 13 goals and 33 points this season are the most by a Commodore in more than 20 years. The freshman record belongs to Laura Koerner with 16 goals and 40 points in 1996.

Baylor will be the fifth conference champion the Commodores have faced this season, including the exhibition against Memphis. The Dores have won three of those games against Memphis, Murray State and Saint Louis. Their only loss to a fellow conference champion came in the first game of the year against Florida State.

Friday’s matchup is set for 7 p.m. CT and will follow the earlier game featuring Texas Tech and Virginia. Vanderbilt’s matchup with Baylor will be streamed live on Facebook on the Baylor Soccer Facebook page.
