Soccer Players Earn Academic All-District Honors

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Seniors Monica Buff, Kari Boersma and Tyler Griffin were named to ESPN The Magazine’s Academic All-District 4 team, recognizing them for their achievements in the classroom.

Buff, a first-team All-SEC selection, is also a first team all-district winner for the second straight year. She is also eligible for academic all-american plaudits that will be released later this month. The Lilburn, Ga., native has a 3.65 grade point average in Economics.

Boersma, a two-time SEC Community Service award winner, earned second-team academic all-district honors for the second straight year. She graduated magna cum laude with a 3.51 grade point average in mathematics and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in finance in Vanderbilt’s Owen Graduate School of Management.

Griffin, a second-team All-SEC selection, picked up third-team academic all-district honors. It’s the second time she has received the district honor. She graduated magna cum laude with a 3.56 degree in economics and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in organizational development.

Vanderbilt women’s soccer has had seven ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honorees over the last two seasons.
