Soccer falls to UT, 3-0, in season finale

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt women’s soccer team ended its season Thursday night, with a 3-0 loss to Tennessee at the VU Soccer Complex. Vandy honored its eight seniors prior to the game.

All five of the active seniors saw action for the ‘Dores. Kendra Hendrix and Duggan Hahn each recorded shots in the contest.

Cheyna Williams once again paced the Vanderbilt offense. The sophomore took a game-high 12 shots, four of which were on goal and two that hit the post. Williams will end her season with 16 goals, three goals shy of tying the single season scoring record.

Tennessee got on the board first, when a Vandy player scored an own goal on a clear attempt, following a UT corner kick.

Vandy would go into the half down only one goal, but UT struck again four minutes out of the intermission to extend their lead to two.

Despite the chances the ‘Dores had they couldn’t push one past the UT keeper.

Tennessee tacked another goal on on a long range shot from around 35 yards out that clipped the underside of the crossbar and into the back of the net, over the reach of Oliva Liebman.

With the loss Vanderbilt ends its season 4-12-3 overall and 1-9-1 in Southeastern conference play.
