Demarchi earns Player of the Week honors

NASHVILLE – Vanderbilt goalkeeper Lauren Demarchi earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, the SEC announced today.

Demarchi received the honor after she shut out No. 9 South Carolina last Friday in a scoreless tie. Demarchi posted three saves in the contest, and she was the first goalkeeper this year to hold South Carolina scoreless.

The win was Demarchi’s third shutout of the year, and she has helped the Dores post eight shutouts this season.

The junior from Hudson, Ohio holds a 10-0-1 record this season and has been crucial during the team’s 14-game unbeaten streak.

Demarchi has been one of the best goalkeepers in the SEC as she sits in first place in the conference in goals against average (.29) and save percentage (.914). She has only surrendered three goals this season.

Up next, Demarchi will attempt to help the Dores extend their first-place lead in the SEC when they travel to Auburn on Thursday. The game is set for 6:30 p.m. and can be viewed on SEC Network+.
